Acupuncture
........................................................................

Acupuncture is now an important part of complimentary therapy in the UK. Acupuncture offers an holistic approach to the management of disease and the presevation of health. According to TCM theory, one's health is dependent on the bodies motivating energy known as Qi (Chi) moving in smooth and balanced way through a series of channels beneath the skin. There are many factors that can upset the bodies Qi such as...

  • Emotion
  • Diet
  • Environment
  • Hereditary Factors
  • Infections

By inserting and manipulating fine needles into the channels at specific points, the acupuncturist can encourage the body to promote natural healing and restore balance.

Cupping

Cupping is a method of applying acupressure by creating a vacuum next to the patient's skin. In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) it involves placing glass cups on the skin with a vacuum usualy caused by burning the air inside with fire. The therapy is used to relieve what is called "stagnation", and is used in the treatment of respiratory diseases such as the common cold,
pneumonia, and bronchitis. Cupping is also used to treat back, neck, shoulder, and other musculoskeletal pain.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is a technique used in traditional Chinese medicine in which a stick or cone of burning mugwort , Artemesia vulgaris, is placed or held over an area or acupuncture point on the body. The purpose is to stimulate and strengthen the blood and the life energy, or qi, of the body through heat.

Moxibustion is often used for people who have a cold or stagnant condition and can be used to promote circulation. It is especially useful in treating muscular sceletal trouuble as well as more internal conditions such as menstrual and digestive imbalances.
