Tai Chi & Qigong

Tai Chi & QigongDaniel teaches Tai Chi and Qigong for Somerset County Council.  He holds classes and workshops around the south west and is particularly interested on how these arts can be applied to improve health and wellbeing.

Tai Chi

Daniel teaches Chen Man Ching short form, warm up Qigong and Wuji standing exercises. The form although the same has some additional postures from the original Yang form as added by Dr Chi Chiang-tao (a leading disciple of Chen Man ching) in the late 1950’s due to his understanding of the health benefits they brought for his students.

Qigong

Qigong is a Chinese healing art that encourages a series of gentle focused exercises and breathing techniques for mind and body. Qigong facilitates the body's energy to flow smoothly by increasing stamina, flexibility and relaxation; thus the healing process is improved and accelerated. Qigong is especially valuable in treating, muscular skeletal, mental, respiratory, digestive and menstrual problems.

Five Element Qigong

Movements and breathing techniques to stimulate and tonify the organs; Liver, Heart, Stomach, Lungs and Kidneys.

Dao Yin Ba FA (Leader Pull Eight Steps Qigong)

A unique form that works all aspects of body and mind.

Shibashi and Tai Chi Six form

Master Wing Cheung, whose Shibashi practice the tutors for Somerset Council follow, studied with Master Wu Jian Hiua, a colleague of Professor Lin Hou-Sheng at the Shanghai Qigong Research Institute in China .

Shibashi was developed by Professor Lin Hou-Sheng in 1979. Professor Lin, a renowned Qigong Master, scientist and Master Healer, recognised the health benefits of Tai Chi and developed eighteen exercises based on both the philosophy of Tai Chi & Qigong, and some of the movements of the Yang style Tai Chi Chuan. The exercises were kept simple hence they are easy to learn and practice. Great emphasis is placed on synchronizing the 18 movements with proper breathing techniques. Daniel also teaches his health students an entry level Tai Chi Six form as developed from the Yang form by Dr Paul Lam for the intention of improving health.

Daniel is also involved in setting up and running various online courses through Somerset County Council.
